The cooperative horror and puzzle game Storebound, developed for 1 to 3 players, will leave early access on July 16 on PC via Steam. The premise is simple: a group of people wakes up lost inside a cursed megastore. To survive and find the exit, they must collaborate using proximity voice chat and walkie-talkies, while the horrors lurking in the aisles try to hunt them down.
3D Audio and Random Obstacles to Keep the Tension High 🎧
Technically, Storebound bets on immersive 3D audio to generate a constant tense atmosphere, where every creak or echo can be a clue or a threat. Level design includes randomly generated objects and obstacles, forcing players to adapt their strategies in each game. Additionally, the sanity system is a key factor: if a character loses control, they may turn against their own teammates. Players can hide in ventilation ducts and must avoid the staff, with multiple difficulty levels to adjust the experience.
When Your Friend Loses Their Mind and Attacks You with a Shopping Cart 🛒
The charm of Storebound is that you not only have to worry about the horrors of the megastore, but also about that teammate who starts giving you weird looks because their sanity went down the drain. The game forces you to coordinate shouts through walkie-talkies while you crawl into a ventilation duct, but there's always a risk: that your teammate decides you're the new obstacle to avoid. And the worst part is, if you survive, you might still have to replay the round because the random objects moved the exit somewhere else.
