Mercedes-AMG is preparing the generational change of its GT Sedan with a radical shift. The new version will abandon the V8 engine to adopt the AMG.EA platform, designed for high-performance electric vehicles. The sports sedan will feature a high-capacity battery and an interior configured for four passengers, highlighting a triple screen that will dominate the dashboard.
AMG.EA platform and high-voltage range ⚡
The AMG.EA architecture, developed in Affalterbach, promises efficient integration of the battery pack. The electrical system is expected to operate at 800 volts, enabling fast charging and superior energy density. The drivetrain will use axial flux motors on the rear axle, a solution inherited from the One. With this configuration, the GT Sedan will aim to compete with models like the Porsche Taycan and the Lucid Air, prioritizing track performance over long-distance comfort.
Four seats and three screens: the mobile office from Affalterbach 🚗
The triple screen promises to turn the interior into a spaceship, but beware: with four real seats, the central rear seat disappears. Rear passengers will feel like executives in a private jet, although the panoramic roof will fry their heads in summer. The best part is that, without an exhaust, the neighbors will no longer complain about the V8 noise. Of course, the artificial sound will still annoy the neighborhood dogs.
