Otoy has released the public alpha version of OctaneRender 2027.1. The main novelty is a neural rendering mode that allows interactive visualization with very little noise, even with few samples. This advancement is supported by NVIDIA technology and internal development. The stable version is scheduled for 2025.
Technological base and new features of the alpha ðŸ§
The neural system uses trained networks to reconstruct the image from minimal samples, reducing preview wait times. AI Light 2.0 optimizes lighting calculations in scenes with many sources. USD geometry export is added, greater support for MaterialX, and integration of scaling technologies like DLSS 4 and FSR 3 for the interactive view.
Goodbye to noise, hello to patience with alphas 😅
A neural render that cleans noise with few samples sounds like we'll be able to make lighting mistakes and see them instantly, without the noise excuse to hide them. That said, we'll have to navigate the typical bugs of an alpha until 2025. At least the graphical noise disappears before the noise of complaints on forums.
