Since June 5, the Paradise Room and the Sponge Room in the Pertosa-Auletta caves, in Salerno, are operational again after modernization work. With new lights and monitoring systems, the complex now offers a complete tour that includes a navigable underground river. The proposal aims to attract visitors interested in leisure and geology.
LED lighting and sensors to preserve the ecosystem 💡
The improvements have replaced the previous lighting with low-consumption LED spotlights, designed not to alter the microclimate of the cavities. Humidity and temperature sensors have been installed, allowing remote control of environmental conditions. This data helps prevent damage to the calcareous formations. Navigation on the underground river, one of the few in Italy, is now seamlessly integrated into the tourist circuit.
Paradise open, but without angels handing out ice cream 🍦
Local authorities assure that the Paradise Room is now so gleaming that even the stalactites look freshly polished. Of course, the name may raise expectations: visitors expecting a line of cherubs with cold drinks will be disappointed. What there is, however, is a boat ride through underground waters, which at least provides more refreshment than waiting in line under the sun. That said, Paradise still has no wifi.
