BMW is preparing to unveil the eighth generation of the 3 Series, a model that arrives with a renewed and avant-garde design. The major novelty is the complete elimination of diesel engines from the range, focusing the entire offering on gasoline engines. This decision marks a turning point in the history of the German sedan, which seeks to adapt to new regulations and market trends.
Curved display and next-generation assistance systems 🚗
The new 3 Series will integrate the BMW Curved Display, a dual-screen panel that combines the instrument cluster and the multimedia system. The operating system will be BMW iDrive 9, with enhanced connectivity features and remote updates. It will also include the Highway Assistant driving assistant, which allows semi-autonomous driving on highways at speeds of up to 130 km/h. The gasoline engines will be four- and six-cylinder, with 48-volt mild hybrid technology to reduce consumption.
Diesel retires, but gasoline is still smoking (literally) ⛽
BMW has decided that diesel no longer has a place in the 3 Series. Diesel purists will have to find another straw to clutch at, perhaps an old E46 with 500,000 kilometers.
