China's GWM is preparing its arrival in the Spanish market with three models aimed at competing in segments where prices are typically high. An off-road vehicle similar to the Land Cruiser, a pickup truck like the Ford Ranger, and a seven-seat plug-in hybrid will arrive with competitive pricing. For the average citizen, this translates into more affordable options for accessing large vehicles with off-road capabilities, without having to empty their bank account.
Hybrid technology and off-road platform for every budget 🚙
GWM is betting on a partial electrification strategy for its largest models. The off-road SUV will use a ladder frame chassis, similar to traditional 4x4s, combined with a mild hybrid system aimed at reducing consumption without sacrificing torque. The pickup truck, on the other hand, will feature a turbodiesel engine with 48-volt electrical assistance, designed for work and leisure. The seven-seat plug-in hybrid will offer an electric range of around 80 km, sufficient for daily urban use, and promises a spacious trunk. Power figures will range from approximately 200 to 250 hp depending on the model, with prices starting from 30,000 euros, well below its European rivals.
