For 3ds Max users, working with frozen objects is a common practice to protect geometry from accidental modifications. However, this safety comes at a cost: the Align tool cannot select these objects. The Align2FrozenObject script emerges as a solution to this limitation. Its function is to temporarily bypass the frozen state to allow alignment usage, automatically restoring the original state after the operation.
Installation Mechanics and Interface Management ⚙️
The installation follows the standard method for packaged scripts in 3ds Max. The file with .mzp extension is dragged and dropped directly onto the application window, which runs the installer. To permanently integrate the command into the interface and access it with a click, the user must go to the Customize > Customize User Interface menu. In the Toolbars tab, look for the Ced-Tools category, where the corresponding action will be found to drag it to any custom toolbar.
When the Freezer Becomes an Impassable Wall 🧊
It's the typical situation: you freeze an object so you don't touch it, and right away you need to align something precisely with it. You enter a loop of desperation, freezing and unfreezing as if you're in a fridge with a broken door. This script acts like that friend who, without asking questions, lends you the master key for five seconds. It does the dirty work and disappears, leaving everything as if nothing had happened. A small automated rebellion against our own excessive safety measures.
