Scene Group has released version 2.6 of Cavalry, their 2D procedural motion graphics design software. This update builds on the features introduced in version 2.0, which marked a turning point with animatable cameras for 2.5D effects and a particle system. The tool combines 3D animation capabilities with an accessible interface and allows exporting to multiple formats.
Technical evolution: from the 2.0 base to the current optimization ⚙️
The 2.x series started from a solid base with version 2.0. That update not only introduced cameras to create 2.5D depth and an experimental particle system, but also prioritized performance. According to the data, it achieved an average 200% increase in scene playback speed. Additionally, it implemented the Auto-Animate behavior to automate interpolations, created custom Components containers, and added background rendering capability, laying the foundation for developments like the current 2.6.
Goodbye to coffee while rendering (maybe) ☕
With the background render function that arrived in 2.0, that sacred ritual of going for coffee while the machine suffers is somewhat questioned. Now you can, in theory, keep working. Although, let's be honest, it's always a good time for coffee. The real advance is that if the render fails, at least you won't have wasted valuable time staring at a progress bar. One small step for the software, one giant leap for productivity... and for the user's hydration.
