Nueva versión estable de Mandriva, aún no la he probado, pero como voy a formatear el portátil para deshacerme de vista (cada día me gusta menos), creo que voy a probarlo, si ya me encantó la detección de hardware de la anterior versión, espero que está sea mucho mejor.

Mandriva Linux 2008 Spring fue una distribución histórica que ya no recibe soporte. Si buscas una distribución Linux moderna con un enfoque similar en facilidad de uso y buena detección de hardware, deberías considerar alternativas actuales.

Una excelente opción es Linux Mint. Es conocida por su gran compatibilidad de hardware, facilidad de instalación y un entorno de escritorio listo para usar con todos los codecs multimedia necesarios. Es ideal para usuarios que vienen de Windows.

Otra alternativa muy sólida es Ubuntu. Ofrece una experiencia de usuario muy pulida, una enorme comunidad de soporte y un proceso de instalación sencillo. La versión LTS (Long Term Support) es especialmente recomendable por su estabilidad y soporte prolongado.

Para un enfoque más cercano al estilo de Mandriva, puedes probar OpenMandriva Lx. Es una continuación comunitaria del proyecto Mandriva original, por lo que mantiene una filosofía similar pero con software actualizado.

El proceso general es visitar el sitio web oficial de la distribución elegida, descargar la imagen ISO y crear un USB de instalación booteable con una herramienta como Balena Etcher. La mayoría de estas distribuciones ofrecen un modo "Live" para que puedas probar el sistema sin instalarlo, lo cual es perfecto para verificar la compatibilidad con tu portátil antes de formatear.
