The EDP GREEN STAGE project presents in Madrid an opera that explores human survival on a distant planet. The work, titled Whisky en Kepler, premieres on May 7 and combines music, theater, and ecological reflection. A proposal that invites us to think about our future beyond Earth.
Stage technology at the service of a distant world 🚀
The staging uses low-consumption LED lighting and surround sound systems to recreate an extraterrestrial environment. Modular sets, made from recycled materials, allow for quick scene changes. The control software synchronizes lights, projections, and music in real time. The entire technical team is powered by solar energy during rehearsals, reducing the production's carbon footprint.
Whisky, opera, and exoplanets: the survival formula 🥃
Because of course, when you colonize a distant planet, the first thing you need is not oxygen or water, but a good single malt whisky. The protagonists sing about cosmic loneliness while drinking a single malt that, according to the libretto, matures in zero-gravity barrels. At least, if the planet fails, they can always open an interstellar distillery.
