The United States Transportation Security Administration has launched the TSA Gold+ program, an initiative that allows airports to hire private security companies. This aims to customize screening systems and prevent collapses due to federal staff shortages, such as those that occurred during government shutdowns. Currently, only 20 airports use private personnel through the existing Screening Partnership Program.
Modular technology and customized scanners 🛡️
TSA Gold+ introduces a model where airports can select their own screening systems, from advanced X-ray scanners to trace detectors. The idea is for each terminal to adapt the technology to its passenger flow, avoiding bottlenecks. However, the TSA will maintain oversight of security protocols, ensuring that federal standards are not diluted. Operational flexibility is the core of this change.
Privatizing queues: the new way to miss your flight ✈️
Finally, airports will be able to have customized security lines. Now, instead of blaming the federal government for the slowness, passengers can complain directly to a private company. Of course, the ticket price will go up a bit to cover the new system, but at least you'll have the certainty of missing your flight with a more corporate touch. Efficiency has never been so fun.
