Screenwriter Jeremy Slater has revealed that Tremor, the ninja with geokinetic powers, was close to debuting in the Mortal Kombat sequel. The character was set to face Sonya Blade in one of the early fights, where he would meet a violent end. However, he was cut during the writing phase, leaving fans without seeing his rock attacks on screen.
The selection process: how they decide which fighters stay 🎬
Tremor's removal stems from narrative and budgetary decisions. Slater explained that each character must justify their inclusion in terms of plot and visual resources. Geokinesis effects, such as moving rocks or creating earthquakes, require costly CGI work. Additionally, the fight with Sonya did not provide a significant advancement to the main story. In cinema, every minute counts, and secondary fighters are often the first to be cut.
Tremor: the ninja left in the arena 🪨
Tremor joins the long list of fighters who never made it to the big screen. While characters like Goro or Kintaro have their place, this earth ninja remained on the drawing board. Perhaps it was his lack of charisma or that his powers are too similar to others. The truth is, Tremor will remain a memory of what could have been, like that friend you never invite to the party because they can't dance well.
