Stellantis has announced a preventive recall for nearly 650,000 vehicles from its Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, FIAT, Opel, and Citroën brands, according to the German authority KBA. Although most issues are minor and easy to repair, there is one case with a potential fire risk related to the engine. The campaign ranges from horn failures to non-compliance with speed assistance systems.
The technical fault affecting vans and the Peugeot 208 🚐
The most serious case affects 786 Opel Movano, FIAT Ducato, Citroën Jumper, and Peugeot Boxer vans (manufactured between July-October 2023 and November-December 2025). The problem lies in the dashboard: the intelligent speed assistants do not comply with the mandatory Galileo OSNMA requirement. The solution is to replace the tachograph, sensor, and antenna. The majority of cases, around 612,196, correspond to the Peugeot 208 (manufactured between September 2019 and July 2022). The fault is that the horn does not reach the volume required by European regulations.
The horn that doesn't even startle a distracted pedestrian 🚗
Stellantis assures that there is no cause for alarm, as the repairs are quick and do not pose a serious safety risk. And they are right: if your Peugeot 208 sounds like a carnival toy, the biggest danger is that no one will move out of the way when crossing your path. At least the driver can claim they tried to warn, even if it was with the sound power of a hotel alarm clock. Of course, it's better not to test it at a crosswalk.
