The works council of the Stellantis plant in Figueruelas has received the company's announcement about the production of a new Opel model in Zaragoza with optimism. This vehicle will be developed on a platform from the Chinese company Leapmotor. Rubén Alonso, president of the works council, highlighted that social peace and the agreements reached with management have been determining factors for this industrial decision.

The new Opel model will be based on a modular architecture developed by Leapmotor, initially designed for electric and low-cost vehicles. Adaptation to production in Figueruelas will involve modifications to assembly lines and training of personnel in new battery and propulsion system technologies. Stellantis thus seeks to optimize costs and development times, leveraging the experience of its Chinese partner in efficient platforms.
