The parish of Santa María la Mayor in Alcázar de San Juan has launched its museumization process with the incorporation of audioguides, coinciding with the eighth centenary of its construction. This project aims to highlight the rich historical and artistic heritage of the temple, one of the most emblematic in Ciudad Real, offering a self-guided tour of its rooms and works of art.
Audioguides and panels for a journey to the 13th century 🏛️
The audioguides allow visitors to explore the church at their own pace, with detailed explanations about architecture, altarpieces, paintings, and sculptures. The museumization includes informational panels and the adaptation of spaces to understand the history of the building, which dates back to the 13th century. The system uses indoor geolocation technology to activate content when approaching each point of interest, offering an immersive experience without the need for a physical guide.
Goodbye to the priest guide: now your phone tells you the story 📱
Finally, parishioners will be able to learn what that saint means without having to wait for the priest to finish explaining the sermon. The audioguides promise to put an end to those endless visits where the guide rambled on more than a blind. Now, if you get bored, you just press pause and save yourself the awkward face. Even the saints applaud: less chatter and more technology.
