The classic real-time strategy game R.U.S.E. has returned to Steam as a Definitive Edition, ten years after its removal in 2015 due to the expiration of military licenses. Developed by Eugen Systems and originally published by Ubisoft in 2010, the game is now re-released by its creators, who have regained the rights and include all DLC, technical improvements, and Steam Deck compatibility.
Technical improvements and support for modern hardware 🛠️
This Definitive Edition brings a series of technical adjustments aimed at adapting the title to current systems. Native compatibility with Steam Deck and controllers has been implemented, along with fixes for network and stability errors that affected multiplayer matches. The graphics engine receives patches for modern resolutions and high refresh rates, though without drastic changes to the original models or textures. The six DLCs released in their day are integrated directly.
The return of the game that confused your generals 🎭
If in 2010 it was already difficult to distinguish between your tanks and the enemy's thanks to the deception system, now you can do it in 4K resolution at 120 fps. That said, the mechanic of hiding units remains so effective that you will probably still lose battles for not looking at the minimap. At least now it will load faster while your opponent flanks you with camouflaged artillery.
