Rumors about a supposed withdrawal of Porsche from the electric car have turned out to be smoke. The German brand is not only maintaining production of the Taycan and the electric Macan, but has already started production of the new Cayenne Electric. The dynamic presentation will be held in Marseille, and this model will coexist with combustion and hybrid versions within a multi-technology strategy.
PPE platform and 800-volt architecture for the new electric SUV 🚗⚡
The Cayenne Electric is based on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, shared with the electric Macan. This 800-volt architecture enables fast charging of up to 270 kW, reducing waiting time on long trips. The high-voltage battery is integrated into the vehicle floor, optimizing the center of gravity. Porsche has confirmed that the thermal management system has been refined to maintain performance under demanding conditions.
The customer's dilemma: plug, hose, or both? 🤔
Porsche's multi-technology strategy is so broad that the customer might need a flowchart to decide. If you choose the Cayenne Electric, you're looking for a plug; if you prefer the combustion one, you're looking for a gas station; and if you opt for the hybrid, you need both and a master's degree in logistics. In the end, the biggest challenge won't be the technology, but remembering which side of the car has the fuel cap and which has the charging port.
