Porsche presents the 2026 Cayenne Coupe Electric, an SUV that aims to combine the sportiness of the Taycan with the practicality of a family vehicle. Based on the PPE platform, its design prioritizes efficiency with a drag coefficient of just 0.23, thanks to an emerging rear spoiler and an active lower grille. However, its bulky silhouette and the accordion plastic of the rear bumper raise doubts about its final appeal.
PPE Platform: the electric heart of Stuttgart ⚡
Under the bodywork, the Cayenne Coupe Electric uses the PPE architecture, shared with the Audi Q6 e-tron. This 800-volt platform enables fast charging and efficient thermal management. The battery pack is integrated into the floor to lower the center of gravity, while active aerodynamics adjust the grille and spoiler according to speed. Porsche promises a range exceeding 500 km, although the SUV's weight could limit the agility expected from a vehicle bearing the brand's crest.
The rear accordion: the detail nobody asked for 🪗
The rear bumper with its accordion-like plastic texture looks like it came from a Playmobil toy. While Tesla bets on simplicity and Audi on sobriety, Porsche decides that its €100,000 SUV should look like an out-of-tune bellows. Perhaps it's a tribute to classical music or an attempt to hide that the design isn't quite finished yet. The only thing missing is for a polka to play when the trunk is opened.
