Nintendo has announced Pictonico!, an app for iOS and Android that transforms your photos into game scenarios. Starting May 28, it will be available as a free download, although most content requires purchasing game volumes. The premise is simple: your images become mini-games where situations occur, such as sports stars on a red carpet or a hungry boss who needs help.
The technology behind the photographic magic 🤖
Pictonico! uses an image recognition system that analyzes the elements of each photo to generate interactive scenarios. The game engine adapts objects, backgrounds, and characters based on what is detected, allowing an image of a grandfather to become an office boss or a dog to become a soccer goalkeeper. The app processes everything locally to avoid delays, and game volumes offer themed packages that add new logic and rules to the generated mini-games.
Now your grandpa can be a dancer without asking permission 😈
Finally, an app that justifies the photos no one asked to see. If you always wanted to see your boss in his underwear solving puzzles, Pictonico! is your chance. Or to portray your cat as a center forward. The best part is you don't need to ask for consent: artificial intelligence does the dirty work. Of course, then you'll have to explain why your grandmother appears dressed as an astronaut in the middle of an office. But that's your problem.
