Brazilian studio Picma Creative Post has created nearly 1,000 visual effects shots for the dystopian science fiction film Biônicos. Over 500 of these included 3D and CGI elements, ranging from computer-generated environments to complex digital integrations. The work also involved digital limb replacements, simulations, and compositing, supporting the film's action narrative.
Digital replacements and simulations for a futuristic world 🚀
The Picma Creative Post team faced the challenge of integrating complex digital elements into Biônicos. In addition to computer-generated environments, digital limb replacements and physical simulations were carried out. Compositing and motion graphics were key to merging the real with the virtual. Invisible visual effects were also applied, going unnoticed by the viewer but reinforcing the credibility of the dystopian world and the intensity of the action sequences.
When even the legs are more fake than a politician's promise 😂
With over 500 CGI shots, one wonders if the actors in Biônicos actually acted or just lent their faces for the computer to do the rest. Digital limb replacements included. It seems the Brazilian studio took science fiction so seriously that even the protagonists' legs are more fake than a three-real bill. At least, no one can complain that there wasn't enough budget for effects.
