The film acts as a directional filter on the LCD screen, limiting the emission angle of UV light. By preventing light from straying into adjacent areas, the resin is cured more precisely in each layer. According to the researchers, this allows printing complex geometries and defined edges without increasing the power of the light source. The prototype shows improvements in lateral resolution without modifying the printer's base hardware.
