Opel has confirmed its participation in the Stellantis group's product offensive for 2030, backed by the FaSTLAne 2030 strategic plan, which mobilizes 60 billion euros. The German brand will launch four new models, two of which will use the new STLA One platform, designed for high-volume electric vehicles. The company positions itself as a key regional player in Europe within the conglomerate.
STLA One Platform: The Technical Foundation of Future Opels 🚗
The STLA One architecture is a modular platform that supports batteries up to 118 kWh and ranges exceeding 700 kilometers. Designed for front or all-wheel drive, it allows manufacturing from compact cars to mid-size SUVs. Opel will use this base for two of its new launches, optimizing costs and development times. The platform also offers fast charging capabilities of up to 200 kW, a relevant detail for competition in the C segment.
Four Models to Save the World (and Jobs in Rüsselsheim) 😅
With only four new models in a decade, Opel seems to have learned the lesson that less is more, or at least that it is cheaper. While Stellantis invests 60 billion, the German brand settles for technological crumbs and two cars on the STLA One. Sure, with 700 kilometers of range you can make it to the next open dealership, which with the current network is almost a weekend challenge.
