Illumination has released the second trailer and poster for Minions & Monsters, the new installment of the franchise. Directed by Pierre Coffin and written by Brian Lynch, the film shows the Minions unleashing chaos once again. This time, after accidentally freeing a horde of creatures, they must save the planet with a tone that blends absurd comedy and film noir elements. A Minion clown armed with a chainsaw stands out.

To bring the film noir aesthetic to life, the team used volumetric lighting and dynamic shadows, achieving stark contrasts reminiscent of classic black-and-white cinema, but with the characteristic colorfulness of the Minions. Physics simulation for the chainsaw movements and monster masses required adjustments to the rendering engine. Brian Lynch adapted the script so that every scream and body gesture of the characters synchronized with the soundtrack, without relying on complex dialogue.
