They urgently need donations of blood groups A positive and negative, as well as B, 0, and AB negative. Without enough blood, surgical operations, emergencies, and chronic treatments are at risk. Blood cannot be manufactured, it can only be donated.

The extraction lasts about 15 minutes, using apheresis equipment that separates components. Blood is stored between 2 and 6 degrees for red blood cells, or frozen for plasma. Each unit is analyzed with pathogen detection tests and typing. A donor can give every 60 days. Distribution logistics to hospitals require coordination with refrigerated vehicles and barcode traceability systems.
