The camarín of the Esperanza de Triana, a jewel of Sevillian Baroque, has reopened after a complete restoration. The brotherhood now allows free access to this sacred space, combining faith and culture. Residents and visitors can admire its gilding and carvings at no cost, making the neighborhood a more accessible tourist destination and boosting local commerce.
Restoration with laser technology and microanalysis 🔬
The restoration process has employed controlled-wavelength laser cleaning technology to remove oxidized varnishes without damaging the original polychromy. Chemical microanalyses were used to identify historical pigments, such as smalt blue and gold leaf. The consolidation of the wooden structure was carried out with low-viscosity reversible resins, ensuring the future stability of the altarpiece and its structural integrity.
Now let's hope it doesn't fill up with palm tree selfies 😅
The good thing about free entry is that anyone can appreciate the restored splendor. The bad thing is that some visitor will mistake the camarín for an Instagram set and take the obligatory photo, blocking the way. That said, if the queue reaches San Jacinto Street, at least the local bars will appreciate the business. Esperanza, miraculous even for the economy.
