The 10 Sentidos Festival brings its proposal to the Albufera natural park with an experience created by choreographer and visual artist Helle Siljeholm. It is a sensory walk that turns the landscape into a live sound composition, where the singing of birds and the sounds of the environment are the protagonists. Participants walk and listen, rediscovering the space from another perspective.
How technology transforms the landscape into a living score 🎧
The proposal uses directional microphones and field recording systems to capture the sounds of wildlife and water in real time. These audios are processed through mixing software that distributes them via headphones or portable speakers. The result is a sound layer that overlays the natural environment, altering the perception of the route. There are no screens or virtual reality: only hearing and technology as a mediation tool.
The bird that doesn't charge royalties 🐦
The best part is that the birds of the Albufera have not asked for a contract nor demand royalties for their participation. While humans walk with their headphones trying to capture the perfect chirp, the local ducks go about their business, probably thinking these visitors are a bit crazy. In the end, the walk shows that nature already holds its own festival; we just need to pay attention.
