Publishers Nicalis and Pikii, along with developer ABShot, have confirmed that the roguelike action-shooter game IRA will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 during the summer season. The title will be available through the Nintendo eShop. In IRA, players control Yeon, a young woman who channels the power of an ancient god and its apostles to face the forces of Chaos. The game debuted in Early Access on PC in August 2021 and had its full release on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG in October 2023.
From PC to Portable: How Chaos Adapts on Switch 2 🎮
The transition of IRA to Nintendo Switch 2 involves technical adjustments to maintain its frenetic pace on a portable console. The game engine, originally optimized for PC, has been reconfigured to leverage the capabilities of Nintendo's new platform. Load times are expected to be reduced thanks to the Switch 2's faster internal storage. Additionally, developers have worked on frame rate stability during sequences with the highest density of enemies and visual effects, a critical point in a genre where every millisecond counts.
Channeling Ancient Gods Now with Limited Battery 🔋
Yeon will have to deal not only with the forces of Chaos but also with the battery of her new portable console. Because nothing says divine power like having to look for an outlet between waves of enemies. At least, if the ancient god runs out of energy, you can always blame portable mode rather than your lack of skill at dodging projectiles. Of course, the apostles won't wait for you to find the charger.
