Ant Workshop studio, in collaboration with Wales Interactive, has announced the release date of Into the Slimy Mines, a title that combines tower defense with roguelike mechanics. Players take on the role of a space miner who must rescue their crew on a moon infested with slugs. The game will be available on May 29 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC.
Excavation Cards and Modular Turrets 🛠️
The technical proposal of the game is based on tunnel construction using excavation cards, which determine the layout of the paths along which the slugs advance. On the central platform, players place turrets and upgradeable buildings to defend the core. Each game offers three guilds with different abilities, altering the available strategy. The roguelike progression system allows unlocking permanent upgrades between attempts, although the map and enemies change in each game.
Slugs, Tunnels, and an Unlucky Miner 🐌
Because being a space miner is already an ungrateful job, but having to deal with slimy slugs invading your moon and having to rescue a crew that probably doesn't appreciate your effort is the last straw. At least you can take it out by placing turrets until the scenario looks like an armed golf course. Don't expect a decent salary, but you can expect hours of slimy entertainment.
