Gigabyte has released a revision of its RTX 5060 Gaming OC in Japan, the V2-8GD model. The change is minimal: the Boost frequency rises from 2595 to 2602 MHz. The rest of the hardware, including the 8 GB GDDR7, the 128-bit bus, and the three-fan Windforce system, remains identical. The price is around 64,500 yen, approximately $405.
Technical analysis of the V2 revision: frequencies and cooling 🔍
The only technical difference in this revision is that 7 MHz increase in Boost frequency, a 0.27% improvement over the previous version. The rest of the specifications are identical: PCIe 5.0 interface, 8 GB of GDDR7 memory at 28 Gbps effective, and a TDP that remains around 150W. The Windforce cooling system with three fans, the backplate, and the video outputs (three DisplayPort and one HDMI) are exactly the same. There are no changes to the PCB or the heatsink.
7 MHz more: the update no one asked for but everyone gets 🤷
Gigabyte has decided that an extra 7 MHz warranted a full revision and a new model. That's a 0.27% performance increase, or in other words, about 3 FPS on average in games that were already running at 120. To celebrate, they have raised the price by a few yen. If you have the previous version, don't worry: the difference is so small that even measurement software won't notice it. Next time, maybe they'll add an RGB fan and call it V3.
