Bliss Brain and Implicit Conversion have announced that the promising 70s anime robot-style video game, Geppy-X, will include a feature highly requested by the community. Players will be able to switch in real-time between the remastered and original animations of the work, an option that will arrive at no additional cost in the base game. The decision directly responds to fan requests who wanted to preserve the aesthetic and movement of the classic version.
The dual engine that satisfies purists and moderns 🎮
Technically, the implementation has required the Implicit Conversion team to maintain two separate rendering pipelines for sprites and backgrounds. The original version faithfully emulates the technical limitations of the era, including the low frame rate and reduced color palette. On the other hand, the remastered version applies smoothing filters, new lighting layers, and smoother animation at 60 fps. The switch between both modes is instantaneous and does not interrupt gameplay, according to the developers.
In case you didn't have enough to decide which robot color to choose 🤖
Now, in addition to choosing between the blue or red robot, you can debate whether you prefer to see it move like a flipbook frame or like a modern anime production. Because, let's be honest, nothing screams authentic 70s experience like having the option to activate the everything looks like pixelated clay mode. At least, when you get tired of nostalgia, you can go back to the clean version and pretend you don't see the jagged edges.
