A group of vessels has been assigned to clean the coasts of the Balearic Islands during the upcoming summer season. Recent images show the ships prepared for this task. The initiative aims to keep the coastlines in good condition, an area that receives a large influx of visitors in summer.
Collection system with modular technology 🚢
The vessels use a collection system with floating barriers and surface trawl nets. They are equipped with sensors to detect waste accumulations and an automatic separation system that classifies plastics, wood, and other debris. Each unit can process up to two tons of marine litter daily, operating in areas up to 10 meters deep.
The perfect plan to stay dry 😅
While tourists fight over a towel on the shore, these boats will do the dirty work. A great idea: let some clean while others dirty. Of course, we'll have to see if the vessels manage to collect as much as bathers drop into the water every weekend. At least the fish will get a break.
