Lemar Hoskins, known as Battlestar, was John Walker's partner during his time as Super-Patriot. Created by Mark Gruenwald and Paul Neary, this character received a strength enhancement treatment from the Power Broker, allowing him to be a high-level hand-to-hand combatant. His most well-known tool was an adamantium shield, although his career was not always brilliant.
Adamantium, brute strength, and a borrowed shield 🛡️
Battlestar's shield was made of adamantium, the same metal as Captain America's, but without the star design. Although it didn't possess the same vibranium resistance, adamantium gave him a solid defense. His military training, combined with the Power Broker's superhuman strength, allowed him to execute precise punch combos and throws. However, his reliance on the shield limited his combat versatility. After losing it, he had to adapt to less flashy tactics.
The Power Broker doesn't give second chances 😅
The funny thing is that Lemar received superhuman strength, but his shield was more famous than him. While John Walker stole the show with his attitude, Battlestar carried the shield as if it were a trunk. And when he lost it, he went from being Super-Patriot's sidekick to the one always asking: did anyone see my shield? A classic case of being forgotten in the Marvel Universe.
