The Spanish government has confirmed the arrival of the MV Hondius ship in the Canary Islands in three days, docking at the secondary port of Granadilla, next to the southern airport of Tenerife. The 14 Spaniards on board, all asymptomatic, will be transferred by military aircraft to the Gómez Ulla Hospital in Madrid for examination. This was announced by Mónica García and Fernando Grande-Marlaska from La Moncloa.
Transfer logistics: military aircraft and health protocol 🚁
The operation combines naval and air resources to minimize risks. The ship will dock in a secondary basin, avoiding traffic from the main port. From there, passengers will be boarded onto an Air Force aircraft bound for the Getafe base. The Gómez Ulla Hospital has isolation units and a laboratory to perform PCR tests and serological analyses within 24 hours, according to sources from the Ministry of Health.

The 14 lucky individuals will go from enjoying views of the Atlantic to staring at the ceiling of Gómez Ulla, all courtesy of the public treasury. Marlaska and García have promised that the transfer will be quick and discreet, although the ship will arrive three days earlier than planned. At least they haven't been asked to pay for the plane ticket in cash or share a cabin with the cleaning staff.
