The anime adaptation of the light novel The World's Best Defender ~The New Explorer of the Labyrinth Country~ now has a release date. The series will air on TOKYO MX, Sun TV, and BS11 starting July 5, 2026. Along with the announcement, a key visual has been revealed showing Arito, the protagonist, in his defender role. The work, published by Kadokawa Books, tells the story of an office worker transported to a world of labyrinths where he must use a versatile support class.
Defender: The multi-purpose class that balances attack, defense, and healing 🛡️
The concept of the defender in this series breaks away from the rigid roles of traditional role-playing games. Arito is neither a pure tank nor an exclusive healer; his class allows him to adapt to any situation. From absorbing damage to casting offensive spells, the character must manage his resources in real time. The animation promises to showcase battles where strategy and versatility are key. The labyrinths present challenges that force the use of all available tools, avoiding extreme specialization.
Another office worker isekai: because cubicle work wasn't enough 😅
Arito shares the drama of many isekai heroes: escaping the work routine only to end up with more responsibilities. Instead of an office, he now has a labyrinth full of monsters. At least, as a defender, he can justify his lack of specialization by calling it versatility. Viewers who have seen other anime in the genre already know the script: the protagonist will arrive, complain a bit, and end up saving the world while longing for his old desk.
