The Civil Guard has arrested two people this Friday at the Delicias station in Zaragoza as they were planning to flee to Romania. They are accused of an alleged homicide in La Almunia de Doña Godina. Following the arrests, officers located the body of a man in an agricultural area next to the A-2 highway. The investigation remains open.
How surveillance technology thwarted the suspects' escape 🚨
The arrest was made possible thanks to the station's video surveillance system, combined with cross-referencing ticket data and facial recognition. The Civil Guard activated an early warning protocol that identified the suspects when they purchased tickets for a train bound for Bucharest. These types of tools, based on behavioral pattern analysis, allow for real-time detection of escapes without the need for immediate human intervention.
The perfect journey that ended on the platform 🚂
The detainees carefully planned their route: leave La Almunia, get to Zaragoza, and take a train to Romania. No one counted on the Civil Guard also knowing how to use Google Maps. Between the body in the field and the train ticket, the plan went down the drain. Now, instead of enjoying the Carpathians, they will get to know the command post cells. That's what happens when you don't read the fugitive manual properly.
