The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested two men, aged 46 and 79, as alleged perpetrators of the death of a third man last Saturday in a farmhouse in Reus. The report of a fight came in around 2:00 PM. Upon arrival, officers found the victim's body with signs of violence and located the two suspects inside the property; one of them attempted to flee. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) is investigating the case, which is under seal of secrecy.
Forensic technology, key at the crime scene 🔍
The DIC uses technological tools to reconstruct the events. Blood pattern analysis through 3D photogrammetry helps determine the trajectory of the blows. Additionally, the use of fluorescence with forensic light helps locate biological fluids not visible to the naked eye. The suspects' mobile phones will be extracted using forensic dumping tools such as Cellebrite to search for prior communications. Security cameras near the farmhouse will also be analyzed to identify suspicious movements before the fight.
The foiled escape: a plan with slow download speed 🐢
The 79-year-old detainee attempted to flee, but his escape plan was reminiscent of a 90s ADSL connection: slow and with little chance of success. At an age when retirement has already arrived, perhaps he confused the farmhouse with a nursing home and the fight with a disagreement over the remote control. What he didn't calculate is that the police, unlike his router, don't reboot with a simple button. In the end, the only leak was his alibi.
