Dutch authorities confirmed the arrest in February of a 33-year-old man in The Hague. The suspect was carrying two axes, one with the name of Princess Alexia carved into it and the other with the inscriptions Mossad and Seig Heil, a Nazi slogan. He is accused of planning the murder of Princesses Catharina-Amalia and Alexia.
Royal security and its digital protocols 🛡️
The security systems of the Dutch royal house include threat analysis on social media and intelligence databases. Early detection of radicalized profiles allows interventions before they escalate into action. In this case, police acted after receiving alerts about the individual, who showed an obsession with the royal family on forums and digital platforms.
The axe of discord and the art of carving bad ideas 🪓
It seems the suspect mistook an axe for a notebook. Carving the victim's name and a Nazi salute on the same object is not only illegal, it's in poor taste and a terrible strategy. Police detained him before he could prove whether he was a killer or a frustrated craftsman. At least, he won't have to worry about DIY in prison.
