The CEB Sant Jordi of Rubí has been the winner of the second edition of the Basket Girlz Awards with its project Keep Playing. This initiative aims to curb the dropout of women's basketball during adolescence, a recurring problem in grassroots sports. The prize, worth 10,000 euros, will be allocated to creating a mental health department within the club.
Zone 0: psychological technology applied to grassroots sports 🧠
The club will implement Zone 0, a psychological consultation space led by a specialized professional. This department will integrate digital tracking tools to periodically monitor the emotional state of the players. The goal is to anticipate stress or anxiety factors that often precipitate sports dropout. The technical approach combines psychological assessment with personalized intervention plans, using data to adjust training loads and internal team communication.
Goodbye to the typical locker room psychologist with snacks 🍪
Until now, mental health in clubs was limited to a psychologist who showed up once a month and handed out motivational phrases like candy. With Zone 0, players will have a fixed space to talk about their problems without having to wait for the coach to notice someone crying on the bench. That said, let's hope they don't play elevator music in the consultation room; they already have enough pressure from the games.
