The regional government has announced a budget of 8.3 million euros to expand the Science and Technology Park of Castilla-La Mancha. The initiative aims to attract new technology sector companies and strengthen innovation as an economic driver. The works will increase the facility's capacity and improve its infrastructure to attract talent and R&D projects.
More square meters for regional innovation 🏗️
The expansion includes the construction of new laboratory modules and coworking spaces equipped with fiber optic connectivity and efficient climate control systems. Specific areas for biotechnology and renewable energies will be set up, with access to high-speed data networks. The goal is to double the current usable area, facilitating the installation of startups and research centers that require controlled environments and specialized equipment.
Hopefully they'll also attract a decent coffee machine ☕
All of this sounds very good on paper. New laboratories, fiber optics, coworking spaces... but those of us who have worked in technology parks know that what really attracts companies is that the wifi works and the coffee machine doesn't spew grounds. Because a cutting-edge innovation center is of little use if you have to go to the neighboring industrial estate to get a coffee. That said, if they manage to set up a good cafeteria, they might even attract people from Silicon Valley.
