The return of the most spectacular football is confirmed. Bandai Namco and Tamsoft have announced that Captain Tsubasa II: World Fighters will launch on August 27 in Japan and August 28 worldwide. The title will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions for fans of Oliver and Benji. ⚽
Tamsoft bets on smooth animation and improved physics 🎮
Development is handled by Tamsoft, a studio known for action titles like Senran Kagura. For this installment, they have worked on a graphics engine that allows smoother animations during shots and saves, with a focus on fluid movement. The ball physics have also been adjusted to offer more realistic trajectories within the arcade style. The game is expected to run at a stable 60 fps on next-gen consoles, although on Switch there may be compromises in resolution.
Net breaks will continue to be the main technical issue 🕸️
Of course, no Captain Tsubasa game would be complete without the ball tearing through the net with every shot. Tamsoft has confirmed that the net physics have been meticulously programmed to break as frequently as in the original series. What they haven't fixed is how players can run for half an hour without getting tired, but that's part of the charm. At least, now you'll be able to see the tear in 4K HDR.
