Smarto Club studio and publisher Astrolabe Games have released a free update for the PC version of Bubblegum Galaxy, a hexagonal tile-building game. The new Study Mode introduces Haco, a productivity companion who virtually sits at the player's desk while they work or study, creating a relaxed coworking atmosphere within the game itself.
A virtual companion for the digital desktop 🖥️
Technically, Study Mode works as an overlay that keeps Haco on screen while the user uses other applications or browses. The character reacts to system activity, showing supportive expressions or visual reminders to take breaks. It is not a distraction-blocking system, but rather an animated companion that aims to reduce the loneliness of remote work. Integration with Bubblegum Galaxy is optional, allowing Haco to be used independently of the building mode.
Finally a roommate who doesn't ask for wifi 🏠
Haco doesn't eat your food, doesn't hog the bathroom, and most importantly, doesn't interrupt you with stories about their cat. However, their virtual presence might make you feel watched when you've been on YouTube for twenty minutes instead of drafting that report. At least they don't judge, just waves a pixelated flag if prolonged inactivity is detected. A heads up: don't let it give you ideas to escape to the hexagon archipelago.
