Brazatortas celebrated its traditional pilgrimage in honor of San Isidro Labrador, gathering a crowd at the Navalcaballo site. The day was characterized by a large influx of residents and visitors who participated in the religious and festive events. The procession of the saint toured the surroundings, followed by a countryside mass.
The countryside adapts to the digital era 🌐
This type of rural event requires logistics that can no longer be understood without technology. Organizers used messaging apps to coordinate schedules and groups, while attendees shared real-time locations to find the best spot by the stream. Some locals even used drones to film the procession from the air, although the wind played a nasty trick on more than one. Mobile signal, however, remained as elusive as ever in the area.
The miracle of mobile connection 📱
The only thing San Isidro couldn't achieve was improving coverage in Navalcaballo. Attendees, between prayer and their sandwiches, took turns raising their phones as if asking for a signal miracle. In the end, the pilgrimage proved that to share a good time, you don't need the internet: just a jug of wine and a good story to tell. That said, the person who uploaded the photo to Instagram took three hours to manage it.
