The Animation Educators Forum, under the wing of ASIFA-Hollywood, has opened the sixth edition of its Student Animation Showcase. Until June 16, 2026, students from around the world can submit their short films. The selection seeks proposals that showcase creativity, originality, and a clear vision of the future of animation, without academic filters.
Technical criteria and production tools 🎬
The jury will evaluate visual narrative, animation fluidity, and the use of digital or traditional tools. No specific software is required; both 2D and 3D techniques, stop-motion, or experimental approaches are valued. Works must have a maximum duration of 15 minutes. Originality in art direction and coherence in narrative rhythm are key factors to stand out among the proposals.
Every animation student's wet dream 😅
Because yes, nothing beats spending three months without sleep, cursing every frame, only for your short to be seen by a panel of experts who will probably debate whether your use of color is a stroke of genius or a calibration error. Sure, if you win, you'll have the endorsement of ASIFA. If not, at least you'll have a solid excuse for not returning your library books.
