French companies 3D Prod and Sculpteo have joined forces after the former acquired the latter. The new company aims to establish itself as a European benchmark in additive manufacturing, offering services ranging from rapid prototyping to industrial series production. With 100 employees and over 7,000 customers in 61 countries, the firm is betting on scaling its production capacity and increasing its revenue in the coming years.
Technologies and processes for industrial production 🏭
The resulting firm integrates various 3D printing technologies, such as selective laser sintering (SLS), stereolithography (SLA), and fused deposition modeling (FDM). This allows manufacturing parts in materials like polymers, resins, and metals, adapting to sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and medical. The goal is to offer a comprehensive service covering everything from design validation to medium-batch production, optimizing costs and delivery times without resorting to traditional molds.
Two companies, one molten plastic 🔥
After the merger, 3D Prod and Sculpteo have gone from rivals to bedfellows, but without sharing blankets. Now, instead of competing for the same customer, they combine their filaments to see who can print more parts in less time. The only risk is that, by merging their catalogs, a customer might order a part that even they don't know if it's made of resin or fairy dust. Of course, with 100 employees, at least they'll have someone to look for the pause button.
