The Generalitat Valenciana has completed the training of 220 Civil Protection volunteers in areas such as first aid, firefighting, rescue, and crisis coordination. This initiative aims to strengthen emergency response capacity and improve citizen safety throughout the Valencian Community, equipping teams with practical tools to act in critical situations.
Drills and protocols for a more effective response 🚨
The courses included drills with advanced communication technology and coordination protocols with emergency services. Volunteers learned to use portable firefighting equipment, immobilization and evacuation techniques, and command center management. This practical approach aims to reduce reaction times and optimize resource management in incidents such as forest fires or floods, common in the region.
Volunteers ready to put out fires... and the occasional WhatsApp 😅
After the course, the 220 volunteers now know how to apply a bandage, extinguish a small fire, and most importantly, not lose their cool when their phone rings with 17 messages from the coordination group. Because, let's be honest, the hardest part of an emergency isn't the rescue, but managing the WhatsApp chat with 30 people all giving their opinions at once. Now they just need to be taught how to mute notifications.
