Microsoft announced at the GDC the arrival of its AI Gaming Copilot assistant to current-generation Xbox consoles, the Series X/S, before the end of the year. This tool, already in testing on Windows and mobiles, responds to voice commands to assist players during their games, offering tips when they get stuck or answering questions about their history and achievements.
Voice integration and contextual access to the game 🎙️
The assistant works through natural language processing, interpreting voice questions to generate contextual responses based on the active game. It accesses real-time game data to, for example, suggest tactics against a specific boss or crafting recipes. Its integration into the console's system allows for quick activation, although Microsoft has not detailed the specific AI models it will use in this deployment.
Goodbye to screams of frustration, hello to queries to the oracle 🔮
The era of ranting at the screen when you don't know how to pass a level could be over. Now, instead of throwing the controller on the sofa, you can calmly ask your digital oracle how to defeat that boss that's made you cry. All that's left is to hope that Copilot doesn't develop a condescending tone when you have to ask it for the same solution for the fifth time.
