Volkswagen has unveiled the first specifications of the ID. Cross, an electric SUV that will arrive at the end of 2026 with a starting price of less than 28,000 euros. With dimensions larger than the thermal T-Cross, it promises more interior space and a rear trunk of 475 liters. Its design, already visible under camouflage, marks differences with the future ID. Polo.
Platform and capabilities of the new electric model 🔋
The ID. Cross will be built on the MEB Entry platform, adapted for entry-level vehicles. It will be Volkswagen's first electric car to include a front trunk, although its capacity is 22 liters, enough for charging cables or a small bag. The batteries and exact power have not been confirmed, but an autonomy adjusted to its price segment is expected.
The frunk: a trunk to store the air conditioning 😅
Volkswagen proudly announces the first front trunk in its electric range. With its 22 liters, it is a space that solves existential dilemmas: do we store the charging cable or a thin jacket? Not both. It seems designed to remind us that, in the electric transition, some luxuries like carrying something more than a pair of gloves in the front, remain a privilege.
