Apple has unveiled its new Siri AI, an assistant that analyzes the screen in real time and searches for data on the internet. Alongside iOS 27, parental controls arrive that limit apps, websites, and blur violent images. The promise is to protect children, but the cost is surrendering the privacy of every gesture on the screen, even in anonymous mode.
The surveillance architecture under the guise of security 🛡️
Technically, Siri AI processes metadata from all user activity, including apps and browsing in supposed private modes. The parental controls come with factory default settings, which limits parents' actual ability to customize filters. Apple decides what is violent without public criteria, and those same filters could be used to block political or competitor content without democratic debate.
Child protection or screen hunting 🔍
Now children will be so watched that even their kitten memes could be considered violent by the algorithm. And parents, content, cede real control to a black box that decides what is good for their children. Apple says it's for security, but perhaps what it seeks is that no one sees how iPhones are made. In short, the screen is no longer yours, it belongs to the apple.
