The eagerly awaited action roguelike rhythm game Ratatan will not arrive in July 2026 as announced. The developers confirmed a delay until October 15 of the same year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC. The decision responds to the need to fix bugs and polish the game after receiving feedback from players. The wait is extended by more than a year.
The technical challenge of synchronizing rhythm and procedural action 🎯
The team behind Ratatan explained that the complexity of combining procedural level generation with the real-time rhythm system has required more adjustments than anticipated. Feedback from tests pointed out fluidity issues in the synchronization between rhythmic attacks and enemy response. The developers state that the extra time will allow optimizing performance across all platforms, especially on Switch 2, where the title must maintain a stable frame rate without sacrificing visual density.
Waiting a year to dance to a finer rhythm 💃
So, if you were getting your fingers ready for July 16, you can relax and dust off the metronome. The developers need another year so that not a single beat is missed due to a bug. At least, when October 2026 arrives, we will have a game so polished that we could even use it to teach dance classes. Or to justify the delay of your next date.
