Lego has announced a collaboration with Pokémon that will arrive in August with 12 construction sets. All of them include Smart Play technology, which reacts to touch with lights and sounds. Figures like Pikachu, Charizard, and Mewtwo will be present, with prices ranging from £12.99 to £109.99. The proposal allows children to play without screens, training and battling interactively.
Smart Play: touch sensors for a screen-free experience 🧱
Smart Play technology integrates contact sensors into the key pieces of each set. When you touch Pikachu, it emits its characteristic sound and turns on LED lights. Battles are activated by bringing two figures close together, generating sound sequences and flashes. Everything runs on included batteries, without the need for mobile apps or an internet connection. It is a simple system that aims to keep children away from screens, offering direct physical interaction with the blocks.
Goodbye to the mobile phone battery: now your child will ask for AAA batteries 🔋
Finally, children will stop asking for the mobile phone to play. Instead, they will ask for a load of AAA batteries, which will last as long as a quick game between school and dinner. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy a moment of peace, until their child's Charizard starts roaring at eight in the morning. Good thing the £12.99 set doesn't include Snorlax, or the sofa would be its next battlefield.
